Commotion – Vids

Good People!

Two exciting video updates about ‘mid the steep sky’s commotion, a work commissioned and premiered by the acclaimed Grammy-winning chamber choir The Crossing in June 2017:

First, the release of a new documentary that opens up the process, ideas, and people behind the project, featuring dreamlike imagery, fascinating interviews, and exquisite performances. The Crossing is superb, Caroline Santa’s artwork is a quiet wonder, and Ben Stamper’s filmmaking (aided by Christopher McDonald and Janelle Delia) is stunning. View here:

Next up, “fists”, the sixth movement of the piece, featuring Caroline’s interpretation of the libretto. Her mesmerizing projections create the suggestion of atmosphere, cloud, storm, and hush. During live performance, this projection unfolds over the full course of 43 minutes; here, the sequences are sped up 550%, 750%, and 1000%. Recommended if you like “Slow TV: Train Ride Bergen to Oslo”.
